About the Client!
The client is a primary healthcare provider serving over 20,000 patients, operating in multiple geographical zones. The client operates a central EHR which automatically communicates with the insurance providers for processing, verification, and billing. The effectiveness of the system hinges on accurately entered ICD10/HCC Codes for each patient by the individual doctors and specialists.
The Problem
The process of entering codes is cumbersome and it was very easy to make mistakes. It was observed that the most common error was accidentally leaving out codes from previous years. The Doctors and Specialists entering the codes felt confused as to which new codes to pick, and the process was taking up a large chunk of time that would otherwise be used attending to patients.
The Solution
We knew that improving the user experience, in this case, was far more than simple design changes and that custom technology will need to be developed to satisfy the client’s requirements.
The solution consists of 3 parts:
1. A newly designed user interface that simplified the process of entering codes at the clinician level.
2. Suggested codes based on Patient History and Progress Notes.
3. AI-powered suggestions for possible additional codes that may be applicable based on current and historical records.

The CI/CD Pipeline is deployed using AWS and branches are managed using BitBucker. The project was managed using Agile Development Methodology which allows for flexibility and quick iteration, important for this project. The project management tool used was ClickUp which includes our custom Automated Bug Reporting and Client Feedback Process. Communication was also a major concern considering the different departments having to work together closely, and we felt Discord gave us the best communication experience and tracability. Our ability to quickly create Software Development Teams for Healthcare Solutions played a key role in the success of the project.
