Case Study CHEO

Converting paper- and CD-based mental health program into a captivating digital experience.

The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) provides mental health programming for at-risk children. Its paper- and CD-based training materials had fallen behind the times, so they called on the Silstone Group to digitize their content and integrate it into an engaging tablet-based experience that would grab children’s attention while imparting critical lessons.

We began by digitizing CHEO’s complete mental health program onto the iPad, adding data collection and user analytics functionality. This information helped the hospital scale the program with ease. As the product was specifically designed for a younger audience, we worked with game designers and artists to make the program’s front-end more visual and interactive. The result is Mindmasters 1 and 2, a pair of informative yet fun-to-play games with a cartoon aesthetic kids love.
